It’s no secret that reproductive rights in this country are under threat. Less understood are the ways laws originally intended for other purposes are being reinterpreted and weaponized to penalize pregnant women. Whether they suffer a miscarriage or a stillbirth, choose to terminate a pregnancy, or give birth to a healthy newborn, women are being charged with crimes and having their babies taken. It’s enough to make your blood boil.

Join us for a free Zoom forum on September 28th, 7-8:30 pm ET to learn more about these growing threats to the civil rights of women and all Americans, and hear how advocacy, education, and litigation can help us fight back.

Our panel discussion includes Karen Thompson, Director of Litigation at JusticeAid’s 2025 grantee partner Pregnancy Justice; Dr. Jamila Perritt, OB/GYN and President and CEO of Physicians for Reproductive Health; and Dr. Jenna Tosh, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood California Central Coast. Dr. Vivian Lewis, Professor Emerita of OB/GYN at the University of Rochester Medical Center, will moderate the conversation.

Once you say the state can come in and control my body, that’s not going to get better. Once you open that door it only gets wider. It’s just a path to exclusion from being full members of society. This is what we mean when we’re saying this is about democracy.
