A love of music, a commitment to social justice, and a passion to give back came together on May 22, 2023, at NYC’s City Winery for “JusticeAid Celebrates Nina Simone” 2023 Spring Concert. The sold-out show brought the audience to its feet and the effectiveness of Black Voters Matter into clear focus.
100% of donations and proceeds from the event will go to grantee partner Black Voters Matter. Thank you donors, ticket buyers, sponsors, and BVM for a magical, perfect night! If you have not yet pitched in, please do so today.
JusticeAid Co-founder/CEO Steve Milliken and Board President Kim Coaxum Duckett welcomed guests to an evening of music, celebration, and friendship. JusticeAid Board members and filmmakers Ray Conley (Brave Dog Productions) and Natalie Jowett introduced a short film highlighting the work of Black Voters Matter to fight voter suppression. Cliff Albright, BVM’s Co-Founder and Executive Director, delivered a motivating cry for voter equality in marginalized communities.
We are grateful to the evening’s event photographers Anthony Artis, Caroline Conejero, and Day 1 Pictures.
THE SHOW!
After a spoken word performance by JusticeAid’s artist-in-residence Paine the Poet, JusticeAid board member Addy Schmidt introduced radio personality and evening host Keanna Faircloth.

You could feel the positive loving energy in the room—thanks to our ticket buyers, table hosts, host committee, and so many donors like you, whose contributions are fueling the fight against racist voter suppression.

Black Voters Matter works with grassroots organizations, specifically in key states in the South, to increase voter registration and turnout, advocate for policies to expand voting rights/access, and support a power-building movement that keeps Black voters and their issues at the forefront of our election process. If you have not already contributed, please give generously. Many thanks.
