November 2013
THE BLACK CAT, WASHINGTON, DC

More than 500 supporters joined us at D.C.’s famed Black Cat to mingle with top-flight D.C. lawyers and our partners at Rising for Justice (formerly DC’s Law Students in Court (LSIC). We enjoyed the music of New Orleans funk ensemble Flow Tribe, NYC’s hip hop/soul/rock outfit Pants Velour, and local break-outs The Morrison Brothers Band. A sensational outpouring of support from colleagues, friends, and LSIC supporters helped raise funds to train third-year law students in courtroom advocacy skills—ultimately ensuring free, high-quality legal assistance for Washington, DC’s low-income community.

Of course, only magical things can happen when you combine superb music, kind people, and the spirit of philanthropy. We’ll remain forever grateful.

Moses Cook, Executive Director, LSIC
