2024 Fall Concert Summary

September 30, 2024

JusticeAid’s Fall 2024 Soul of Justice Benefit Concert was a sold-out jam celebrating justice through the joy of music.

All donations and proceeds from the concert will go to our 2023-2024 grantee partner, Black Voters Matter.

SPREADING LOVE. BUILDING POWER.

Black Voters Matter engages with disenfranchised communities 365 days a year. JusticeAid and Black Voters Matter co-founders LaTosha Brown and Cliff Albright stressed the importance of mobilizing every voter, listening to and understanding their concerns, and not just showing up in Black communities at election time. In addition to its voter activation efforts, Black Voters Matter is on the ground supporting communities devastated by Hurricane Helene—providing water, generators, and other critically needed provisions.

WE’LL TAKE YOU THERE

The concert featured the rich and legendary musical tapestry of 60s/70s American soul music, with songs from Marvin Gaye, Sly & the Family Stone, The Rolling Stones, Chaka Kahn, and more. One spectacular moment—when LaTosha Brown joined the performers for a rousing rendition of  Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.”

Scott Sharrard (lead guitarist of Little Feat) led an all-star Band featuring guest vocalists:

Nicole Zuraitis
Ryan Shaw
Tash Neal
Nicki Richards
Chrissi Poland
Paine the Poet

And band members:

Tony Leone, drums; Mike Merritt, bass; Eric Finland, keys; Bobby Allende, percussion; Craig Dreyer, tenor saxophone; and Reggie Pittman, trumpet
