2020 Fall Concert
October 17, 2020
We know you are doing all you can to get out the vote. We are, too. JusticeAid’s virtual Fall Concert, Voices to Protect the Vote will lift our spirits, raise money to fight voter suppression, and offer us all a unique opportunity to enjoy amazing music by artists committed to our cause.
- Your support for our Spring concert was such a success that JusticeAid gave our grantee partner, Election Protection / 866-OUR-VOTE, $200,000 in June. But we’re not stopping there. Our goal is to raise $100,000 more!
- Contributions to JusticeAid between now and November 3rd will go directly to Election Protection to help get out the vote and fight voter suppression.
- Watch with us on Saturday, Oct. 17th at 8 pm on JusticeAid’s YouTube Channel and Facebook page. We will post the links here on the day of the event.
Featuring musical artists Rosanne Cash, Ivan Neville, Tom Morello, Regina Carter, and Lila Downs, and concert host Bari Koral.
OUR PURPOSE
Protecting elections has never been easy work, but it’s especially challenging today.
This election is infected by two pandemics: COVID-19 and voter suppression. Advocates, such as our grantee partner, Election Protection / 866-OUR-VOTE, are working around the clock to educate the voting public in the face of digital disinformation, intentional disenfranchisement of certain voters (usually BIPOC), and of course, COVID-19.
It takes a coalition to get the work done, and this is why we are supporting Election Protection.
Our grantee partner Election Protection is:
-
Re-training and re-deploying thousands of volunteers nationwide to convert from in-person to all-virtual hotline call centers, due to social distancing restrictions.
-
Engaging local and state officials in multiple jurisdictions on voters’ rights to ensure that changes in the election calendars and methods of casting a ballot do not create barriers to the vote.
-
Developing new voter education materials and updates on the changing elections landscape and disseminating them to partners and voters nationwide.
Election Protection is defending democracy and ensuring access to the ballot box in the era of COVID-1.
Election Protection is the nation’s largest nonpartisan voter protection coalition formed to ensure that all voters have an equal opportunity to participate in the political process.
Made up of more than 200 local, state, and national voting rights advocacy partners, Election Protection works year-round to provide information and assistance to voters on a range of issues, including those that arise during voter registration, early and absentee voting, casting a vote at the polls, overcoming obstacles to participation, and the post-election process when ballots are reviewed and run-offs are held.
Election Protection is a program of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights. Formed in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, the Lawyers’ Committee has been at the forefront of the legal struggle to fight discrimination, repair the damage of historic racial inequity, and break down the barriers to opportunity.
We know that you trust JusticeAid to identify phenomenal musical talent, important issues, and deserving organizations like Election Protection. Please kindly give what you are able and know that we are truly grateful for your support and audience participation on October 17th.
JusticeAid supporters share a passion for justice and a love for the arts. Please learn about voter suppression, persuade someone of its importance, and let’s rally together to make the world a better place.
