JusticeAid lost one of its most cherished founding family members last week. Mark Rochon believed to his core in the transformative power of music to change hearts and minds for justice. Fierce opponent of government attacks on human freedom, and champion of individual liberty, Mark took on the hardest cases in the toughest places.
Mark played as hard as he worked. He leaves Page and Georgia and Alex — all of us — bereft. No one got more juice from the orange of life than Mark Rochon. Raise a joyful noise in celebration of an exemplary life. Make some good trouble to elevate human flourishing. The world is immeasurably poorer for the loss of Mark Rochon. We miss you. We honor you. We will carry your spirit with us in all our endeavors.
The JusticeAid Board

“There is a reason why we sing protest songs, and there is a reason why we sing in the face of trouble and oppression. When we sing together, we voice aloud our concerns, we trigger parts of our brain that have empathy for others. Sometimes we sing out of anger, sometimes out of love, but always from a place of making change. The song changes the singer, it changes us, and in the right moments, we are the song.”
