David Hidalgo will be performing at JusticeAid’s Voices to Protect the Vote online May 18th concert in support of Election Protection and the 866-OUR-VOTE coalition hotline.

David Hidalgo is an American singer and songwriter born in Los Angeles and best known for being the driving vocal and lead guitar force of the legendary East LA band Los Lobos. There, he has been a creative force exploring the borders of rock, country, R&B, Tex-Mex, and cumbia for four decades. Los Lobos has earned 11 Grammy Award nominations and has won three Grammy Awards.

David is also a member of Los Super Seven and of the Latin Playboys, a side project band made up of some of the members of Los Lobos. He also formed another side project band called Houndog. His songs have been covered by the Jerry Garcia Band, Waylon Jennings, Bonnie Raitt, and others.

In addition to his work with Los Lobos, David frequently plays musical instruments such as accordion, violin, 6-string banjo, cello, requinto jarocho, percussion, drums, and guitar as a session musician on other artists’ releases.

Los Lobos performed at a JusticeAid fundraising event in support of its 2019 beneficiary, the Immigrant Defense Project, on April 26, 2019, at The Hamilton in Washington, DC.

“The genius of Los Lobos resides in their innate ability to find the redemptive power of music, no matter the style they choose to play.”
