This year JusticeAid spotlights police accountability and community empowerment and the work that Neighborhood Defender Service is doing to reimagine public safety.

Every dollar from ticket sales and sponsorships for the Oct. 19 concert at the Lincoln Theatre will support the expansion of Neighborhood Defender Service’s Police Accountability/Community Empowerment (PACE) program.

The vision of PACE is to reckon with police impunity, reduce over-policing, and build community power and wealth. PACE will help individuals and communities alike secure their futures by addressing the police misconduct that marginalizes them, providing them with resources, and working alongside them to reshape policy in ways that reverberate across generations.

Music for justice—and an evening with social justice and music icon Mavis Staples—What could be better? We hope to see you at the JusticeAid Fall Concert on October 19th at the Lincoln Theatre, Washington, DC. Proof of vaccination and masks currently required.

“Racist policing is an insidious and destructive practice that destroys lives and communities. Every day, we see reports of Black and brown citizens wrongfully arrested, beaten, or killed by police officers who then face no consequences. It is not enough to sit by and hope for change. We must actively engage which is why your support of JusticeAid right now is so important.

—JusticeAid President, Kim Duckett Coaxum

—Rick Jones, Executive Director, NDS

“For decades, NDS has worked in the courtrooms and communities to secure justice for our neighbors. As public defenders serving the Black and brown neighborhoods enduring the most police misconduct, we are determined to build power with, and for, our clients to reckon with the injustices they face—and are thrilled by the opportunity to partner with JusticeAid to do so. The PACE Program, made possible by the support of JusticeAid, will change the way public safety happens in this country. It is the next generation of groundbreaking work from NDS, designed to bring about long-term structural change.”

Thank you to our early Sponsors! Premium Seating Sponsorships are available. Or, become a Justice Ally Sponsor if you cannot attend the concert. Learn more.

Covid Policy

While we’re hopeful that the COVID-D variant will subside as rapidly as it has come upon us, we can’t know what the coming months will hold. Your health and that of our artists is of paramount importance to us, and we are taking all precautions to ensure your safety. Masking and proof of full vaccination will be required for entry along with a matching photo ID. Proof of vaccination can be your physical vaccine card or a photo of your card. While we hope you buy tickets to benefit NDS PACE, should the concert be cancelled, and you ask, we will refund your purchase.
