Dear Friends,

JusticeAid’s 2023 spring benefit concert tribute to civil rights icon and High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone, was a sold-out success! The uplifting evening of amazing music brought the audience to its feet and the effectiveness of 2023 JusticeAid grantee partner Black Voters Matter into clear focus.

The concert, held at New York City’s City Winery on May 22, 2023, featured Grammy Award winner Lisa Fischer (backup vocalist for the Rolling Stones and featured in the movie “20 Feet From Stardom”), Grammy nominee Scott Sharrard (frontman for Gregg Allman, and lead guitarist/singer for Little Feat), emerging jazz vocalist Brianna Thomas, and other contemporary artists. We also premiered the short video below and are sharing it with you so you can see for yourselves why we are so impressed by Black Voters Matter.

A huge ‘thank you’ to the extraordinarily talented performing artists who rocked the stage… AND to our ticket buyers, table hosts, host committee, and Board members—and so many donors, like you—whose contributions are fueling the fight against racist voter suppression. 100% of your gift today will be granted to BVM.

Managing Director, JusticeAid

Founded in 2016, Black Voters Matter acts as a uniting force working on the ground in small towns, rural communities, and big cities—linking all its desperate voters back to their own power and serving as a conduit in support of their fundamental voting rights.

JusticeAid is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. Our mission is to leverage the community-building power of art and music to transform awareness into action in the fight against injustice. Since 2013 JusticeAid has granted over two million dollars to nonprofits that are protecting civil rights for all. Throughout 2023 JusticeAid is raising money for Black Voters Matter (BVM).
