Meet Christie Dashiell

Christie Dashiell is a contemporary jazz vocalist and composer known for her improvisational prowess and effortlessly rich and clear tone. She was born in Washington, DC and attended Howard University and the Manhattan School of Music.

Her second album, Journey in Black, was nominated for the 2025 Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy Award. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, she received a nomination for her album We Insist 2025! in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category.

Dashiell is thrilled to join celebrated guitarist Scott Sharrard and Afro-Cuban percussionist and bandleader Pedrito Martinez and his Group.

The audacity of ICE enforcement has brought Fourth Amendment protections into sharp focus. Join us at this free in-person event on September 28, 2026, 4:30-6:30 pm, at Howard University School of Law.

Speakers include:

  • Sirine Shebeya, Executive Director of the National Immigration Project, will shed light on best practices when confronted by ICE.
  • Sidney W. Thaxter, Senior Litigator for the Fourth Amendment Center at NACDL, will discuss the new and emerging field of electronic surveillance, including location tracking, communication interception, device searches, government hacking, biometric identification, and data collection.
  • Before the Forum, from 2:30-4 pm, JusticeAid Artist in Residence Paola Mendoza will present Dear Andrew, a participatory workshop based on a hypothetical interaction with an ICE agent.  Please join us!
