Meet JusticeAid 2025 Artist in Residence, Ìsa Blues

Isa Blues is a 24-year-old R&B/Soul artist whose warm vocals and sultry lyricism are captivating audiences at major venues and across streaming platforms. Drawing inspiration from icons like Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse, as well as contemporary legends such as Sade and Jazmine Sullivan, Ìsa blends soulful melodies with a distinctive jazz influence.

She earned her undergraduate degree in music from Loyola University of New Orleans, where she developed her signature sound. Ìsa has collaborated with companies such as Meta, Coach, and BET, and has headlined performances at SOB’s and Heaven Can Wait in New York City, as well as at the House of Blues and The Orpheum in New Orleans.

Alongside her music career, Ìsa is also a trained actress, having studied at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. She has appeared in Off-Broadway productions, Don’t Talk and TinMan, and starred in two feature films. Ìsa currently lives in New Rochelle, New York.

Ìsa will make her debut at Respect!, JusticeAid’s spring concert on May 28th at City Winery NYC.

As a black woman, justice means more than fairness – it’s having our voices heard, our pain acknowledged, and joy celebrated. This residency is a chance to amplify stories that often go unheard.

About the JusticeAid Artist in Residence Program

O

ur Artist in Residence program supports JusticeAid’s mission by inviting a working artist and JusticeAid’s ever-growing audience to explore together the connection between justice and art. JusticeAid’s audience benefits by being exposed to the artists’ work, and our Artists in Residence benefit from wider exposure. The residency is for a one-year period, by invitation only.

Launched in 2023, JusticeAid’s Artist in Residence program deepens our commitment to the joyful connection between justice and art. Each year, we invite a talented artist to collaborate with us, creating original work that reflects JusticeAid’s mission, our annual justice pillar, and the goals of our grantee partner.

The residency offers artists a yearlong opportunity to engage with our community, grow their craft, and widen their exposure to new audiences. Through performance opportunities, mentorship, and platform support, JusticeAid helps amplify the artist’s work while inspiring and enriching our audience with fresh, meaningful perspectives.

Participation in the Artist in Residence program is by invitation only.

The Artist in Residence program also presents a unique opportunity for sponsorship. Supporters can play a vital role in nurturing emerging talent and advancing JusticeAid’s mission in a direct, visible way.

The JusticeAid 2024 Artist in Residence was awarded to actor, activist, and spoken word poet Paine the Poet. You can show your support for Paine and Ìsa by following them on their Instagram accounts.
