Our Democracy Is at Risk

Announcing a digital platform to help get out the youth vote!

How the Challenge works

1. Create a documentary or social media campaign on issues important to you and your community.

Film documentaries should be no longer than 6-8 minutes in length. Social media campaigns should be 2 minutes in length and must have a “Call to Action” to vote. (See below for details.)

2. Submit your film.

The deadline to submit your entries has been extended to August 14, 2020. Winners will be announced in September 2020.

3. Watch the winners!

Winning JusticeAid Prize entries will be screened at the JusticeAid Film Forum in Washington, D.C., September 2020. In addition, selected films air on JusticeAid and Civic Life Project’s social media channels.

JusticeAid is proud to partner with the Civic Life Project, a nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to inspiring youth in civics through film making and education.

Are you 15-25-years old and live in the U.S.? Care about your future in this country? Interested in social justice issues, such as civil rights, voter suppression, mass incarceration, poverty, voting rights, and immigration? Want to get engaged in voting and the 2020 election? And, most important, love film and social media?

Then please submit your films! We have resources to help you get started. Please contact us if you have any questions: CONTACT

(Up to 8 minutes in length)

We are looking for powerful films that will address issues that you as young Americans are concerned about. Your submissions should outline a path forward that will encourage others to become involved. The foundation of your work is to strengthen our democracy through greater voter participation.

(Up to 2 minutes in length)

We challenge you to create an up to to 2-minute video that will measurably increase youth vote in 2020. You are free to use animation, documentary, interviews, testimonials, or drama.  Create your video for your favorite social media platform, include the link we provide for your viewers to be counted, and get as many vote pledges you can. Make it funny or make it poignant, make it sad or hopeful, but make it count!
